Mogadishu, 11 March 2025 – The National Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (NIEBC) has officially awarded the certificate of recognition to the newly established Somali Union Organization after it successfully fulfilled the required criteria.
The certification ceremony was attended by the Chairperson of the Commission, Mr. Abdikarim Ahmed Hassan, Deputy Chairperson Mr. Saadiq Abshir Garaad, and several members of the NIEBC.
Speaking at the event, the Commission’s Registrar, Mr. Mohamed Omar Ahmed Xaydara, provided a detailed overview of the Somali Union Organization and the processes it underwent to meet the required standards.
Dr. Mohamed Deeq Sheikh Mohamed, Chairperson of the Somali Union Organization, accepted the certificate and praised the Commission for its dedicated efforts in serving the Somali people.
In his remarks, Chairperson Abdikarim emphasized that the Somali Union Organization had now received its official status and acknowledged that other organizations are also in the process of completing their requirements for certification.
He further highlighted that Somalia is on the path toward implementing one-person, one-vote elections, ensuring a fair and transparent electoral process across the country.
