Evidence of Foreign Mercenaries Used by Ahmed Madobe in Somalia: A Call to Action for the Federal Government

Recent social media evidence strongly suggests that Ahmed Madobe, who currently controls Kismayo city, has deployed foreign mercenaries to further his agenda. These mercenaries reportedly include individuals of Ethiopian origin, specifically from the Amhara and Oromo ethnic groups. They were allegedly brought into Somalia to attack the Somali National Army (SNA) forces stationed in Raaskambooni.

This disturbing revelation underscores the urgent need for the Federal Government of Somalia to take decisive action against Ahmed Madobe and his external collaborators. His reliance on foreign mercenaries threatens Somalia’s sovereignty and undermines the integrity of its national forces.

    Key Evidence Supporting These Claims

    1. Non-Somali Language Among His Forces
Observers have noted the presence of individuals within Ahmed Madobe’s ranks who do not speak Somali. This points to the recruitment of foreign mercenaries rather than local Somali fighters.
    2. Distinct Physical Appearance
Many of these individuals reportedly exhibit physical characteristics that do not align with those typically associated with Somali nationals. This further supports claims that they were brought in from Ethiopia to serve Ahmed Madobe’s objectives.

A Call to Action for the Federal Government

The Federal Government of Somalia must address this issue with urgency and determination. Allowing regional leaders to employ foreign forces not only undermines national unity but also sets a dangerous precedent for external interference in Somali affairs. The government must:

    1. Launch a Comprehensive Investigation
Conduct an in-depth investigation into these allegations, collecting all available evidence and presenting it to the public to maintain transparency.
    2. Neutralize External Threats
Use all legal and diplomatic means to weaken Ahmed Madobe’s reliance on foreign mercenaries. His actions should be treated with the same level of seriousness and resolve as those taken against Al-Shabaab or any other group threatening Somalia’s sovereignty.
    3. Reinforce the National Army
Strengthen the Somali National Army and provide it with the resources and support needed to counter any internal and external threats effectively.
    4. Send a Clear Message
The government must convey that employing foreign mercenaries to wage internal conflicts will not be tolerated. Leaders who engage in such practices must face appropriate consequences to preserve the nation’s unity and stability.

    Preventing a Sudan-like Scenario

The Federal Government must act decisively to avoid a scenario where regional leaders, such as Ahmed Madobe, grow into autonomous power players akin to the RSF in Sudan. Allowing such developments would risk turning Somalia into a fragmented and unstable state.

The use of foreign mercenaries in Somalia is a direct attack on the country’s sovereignty and unity. Ahmed Madobe’s actions are not only a betrayal of Somali interests but also a dangerous escalation in the region’s internal conflicts. The Somali government must take swift, decisive action to address this threat, restore order, and ensure that all actors operate within the bounds of national law.

Somalia’s integrity and future depend on immediate, coordinated efforts to prevent further erosion of its sovereignty.
